CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Today, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Ranking Member of the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee and a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to the City of Ripley, W.Va. to upgrade its wastewater treatment system.
This award, which was secured through a Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) request made by Senator Capito, will be used to improve the wastewater system in Ripley by improving treatment plants and eliminating overflows.
“I am glad to see these funds going to Ripley to help improve its wastewater treatment infrastructure and assist in efforts to meet higher environmental standards,” Ranking Member Capito said. “I have been working with Ripley for a long time to deliver resources for wastewater improvement that will allow the city to better serve its residents. I am proud to use my positions on the EPW and Appropriations Committees to help secure this award through the CDS process.”
