WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) today announced that the Pipestem Volunteer Fire Department in Summers County will receive $15,429 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program to purchase firefighting gear.

“It is critical that volunteer firefighters and first responders have access to the training and resources needed in an emergency situation. This funding will increase firefighter safety at the Pipestem Volunteer Fire Department and support local fire and rescue efforts,” said Senator Capito.

FEMA’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program aims to help meet the firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments. Through funding assistance, the program helps fire departments enhance their ability to protect both the public and first responders from fire and related hazards.
