WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced $977,733 from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) for the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals to support safer and healthier learning communities by upgrading digital equipment and funding the digitization and automation of Mental Health Juvenile Justice Records to make them more accessible for the state justice system. The funding was made possible through the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, which passed the Senate with Senator Capito’s support and was signed into law in June of 2022.

“Helping keep our communities stay safe and healthy is essential, and this funding will support state officials in maintaining better records to protect our citizens. I know how important it is to make sure our children and their families are safe every day, and I will always advocate on their behalf,” Senator Capito said.
