CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Today, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), a member of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee and the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced $549,994 to West Virginia University (WVU) through the National Science Foundation (NSF), namely the EPSCoR program which the senator has long supported. This funding will support research that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to identify and personalize treatments for cancer patients to increase the effectiveness of treatment and improve health outcomes.
“Once again, WVU is leading the way in research to hopefully create better treatments for patients battling cancer,” Senator Capito said. “We must use all available resources to fight this terrible disease, and I look forward to seeing how researchers at WVU can harness new technology to improve treatment in our state.”
