WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $748,564 to West Virginia University (WVU) from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) to support scientific and technical research. Specifically, the funding will allow WVU to focus on a range of high-priority research needs, including deep space exploration, manufacturing in space, and advancements in technology and science that will also benefit humanity here on Earth.
“Our higher education institutions are the center of innovation, and I am working to get them the resources they need to continue their work and to inspire more people across our state to shoot for the stars,” Senator Capito said. “I am excited to see this funding announced today, which will help support WVU’s—and our state’s—involvement in our nation’s pursuit to learn more about what exists beyond earth. As a staunch supporter of the NASA EPSCoR program, I am thrilled to see the tradition continue at WVU with the acceptance of their proposal into this program.”
