WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced $1,755,887 in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of Justice Programs (OJP) for the West Virginia Department of Homeland Security. The funding will be used to develop and staff a new crisis intervention advisory board that will include representatives from local law enforcement, the community, courts, prosecutors, behavioral health providers, victim services providers, and legal counsel.

“Maintaining safe communities across our state is so important, and efforts like the West Virginia Crisis Intervention Advisory Board can go a long way in helping to achieve that goal,” Senator Capito said. “I’m proud to announce this funding that will promote safety within our towns and cities, and continue to support emergency response teams with the tools needed as they assist those who may pose a risk to themselves or others.”
