CHARLESTON, W.Va. — U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $1,156,000 in grant funding, as well as a $1,554,000 loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development Grant Program for the Hardy County Public Service District and the Town of Romney.

“I am happy to see the Hardy County Public Service District and Romney receive these resources to help meet the water needs of their constituents,” Senator Capito said. “The funding from the USDA will help more West Virginians reliably access clean water and make distribution more efficient for all residents.”

Individual awards listed below:

  • $1,554,000 loan for the Town of Romney: This funding will be used to upgrade Romney’s water distribution lines and treatment facilities.
  • $865,000 grant for the Town of Romney: This funding will be used to upgrade Romney’s water distribution lines and treatment facilities.
  • $291,000 grant for the Hardy County Public Service District: This funding will be used to continue construction on new facilities for Water and Waste Disposal offices in Moorefield, W.Va. after previous accommodations were seriously damaged by floods in June 2018.
