CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Today, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee and the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, joined West Virginia state leaders, including Governor Jim Justice (R-W.Va.), West Virginia Secretary of Economic Development Mitch Carmichael, West Virginia House of Delegates Speaker Roger Hanshaw (R-W.Va.), West Virginia Senate President Craig Blair (R-W.Va.), West Virginia University President Gordon Gee, and Marshall University President Brad Smith, to celebrate the announcement that LG Corp. will be making a $700 million investment that will help create 275 new technology jobs in West Virginia.

This investment is aimed at launching and growing new business ventures that advance the development of new technologies for renewable energy, health care, and industries of the future.

“For years, West Virginians have worked to improve the technology infrastructure in our state because it can help generate more opportunities for our communities and residents,” Senator Capito said. “I am grateful to everyone in the governor’s office, state legislature, and institutions of higher learning who helped lay the groundwork to make West Virginia the ideal place for LG to invest. I am also grateful to LG for selecting our state as the destination to bolster their operations and look forward to partnering with them as they grow here. I’m confident that this announcement today is another positive step to grow West Virginia’s economic momentum and strengthen our reputation as a destination for technology innovation.”
