CHARLESTON, W.Va. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) today released the following statement ahead of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, January 16:
“Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is one of the greatest figures in our nation’s history. When Dr. King visited Charleston 63 years ago this month, his message, principles, and display of courage in the face of prejudice inspired countless individuals, and transformed our entire country. Every day, we have the opportunity to honor Dr. King’s legacy by our actions and words as we work towards a more perfect union and preserve the American dream for all West Virginians. I encourage all West Virginians to join me in celebrating the life of Dr. King, a champion of equality, justice, and peace.”
