CHARLESTON, W.Va. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) yesterday concluded her Virtual Academy Days series for high school students interested in attending U.S. Service Academies. Representatives Carol Miller (R-W.Va.), Alex Mooney (R-W.Va.), and David McKinley (R-W.Va.) each joined Senator Capito for separate events.

“Although virtual this year, Academy Days are a great opportunity for students to learn more about a future in service,” Senator Capito said. “One of the most important roles as a U.S. Senator is nominating West Virginia’s best and brightest to represent our state at these academies. I appreciate my colleagues from the House joining me, and I look forward to getting to know the students who will apply.”

Representatives from the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Military Academy (West Point), the U.S. Naval Academy, Army ROTC, Air Force ROTC, as well as the U.S. Department of Defense’s Medical Examination Review Board (DoDMERB) were present during Senator Capito’s virtual events. These representatives, including current students, were able to answer questions about day-to-day life at the Academies and the application process.

Students who would like to learn more about the Academy process can visit Senator Capito’s website here.
