Capito Fox News Border Security

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), chair of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, this morning appeared on Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom” with Bill Hemmer to discuss border security and current government funding negotiations.

“We should be able to work this out,” Senator Capito said. “But we’ve got to look at what’s going on at the border. It’s escalating. Drugs and human trafficking—this rises to the president’s argument that we need more dollars in our border security, which includes the wall. The point of the matter is this is our national security—for communities down on the border, for my communities in West Virginia who are ravaged by fentanyl and heroin. This is money that the American people feel we should be spending to secure our borders and make this situation much safer and better for our country.”

As chair of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, Senator Capito has played an active role in government funding negotiations, including those for the Department of Homeland Security and border security.
