WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) today issued the following statement regarding the Senate’s Energy and Policy Modernization Act advancing to a House-Senate conference committee:
“For the first time in more than a decade, Congress is considering comprehensive energy legislation that will lead to more jobs and revenue in energy-producing states like West Virginia. With today’s vote, we are one step closer to getting this bill across the finish line and signed into law this year,” said Senator Capito.
With Senator Capito’s support, today the Senate voted 84-3 to conference with the House of Representatives on the Energy and Policy Modernization Act. The bill includes several provisions that Senator Capito has championed, including research and development for Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS) technologies and pipeline modernization.
