WASHINGTON, D.C. — Thursday evening, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and the entire U.S. Senate voted unanimously to pass a bipartisan resolution in support of Ukraine in the face of increased Russian aggression.
The senators’ resolution, which Senator Capito cosponsored, is a renewed bipartisan message from the U.S. Senate in fierce support of the United States’ Ukrainian partners in response to President Putin’s escalating aggression.
“Last night, the Senate came together to pass, with unanimous support, a bipartisan resolution supporting Ukrainian independence and sovereignty that denounces Russia’s unwarranted aggression. Just as Russia watched the Biden administration’s failures in Afghanistan, our foreign adversaries are closely watching how we respond to Putin’s escalating hostility. It is critical for the United States to continue supporting democratic Ukraine and deter the Kremlin’s ongoing aggression,” Senator Capito said.
The resolution was introduced by U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), Chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Europe and Regional Security Cooperation, and U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-Ohio), Chair of the Senate Ukraine Caucus.
