WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Appropriations Committee, today announced $11,128,449 for several community health centers in West Virginia through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Health Center Program. Funding will support primary health care services in several counties across southern, central, and eastern West Virginia.

“Community health centers are a vital component of West Virginia’s health care system,” Senator Capito said. “Our rural communities depend on these facilities for primary health care services that may otherwise be located many miles away. I have been a supporter of our community health centers throughout my time in Congress, and I will continue to fight for resources that give West Virginians access to high-quality, dependable health care services.”

“Health centers provide essential care for West Virginians across our state who would otherwise be required to travel long distances to receive care. For many people, this available, affordable care means the difference between hours of travel or a ten minute car ride, which is why I am proud to support these centers here in West Virginia. I applaud HHS for their investment in our state, our health systems and our people and I will continue to advocate to protect our healthcare on the Senate Appropriations Committee,” Senator Manchin said.
