CHARLESTON, W.Va. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $1,306,263 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) to support maternal and child health services across West Virginia.
“Grants like this provide important support for our families, while also helping to bolster maternal and child health services in West Virginia,” Senator Capito said. “Giving our families the resources they need to lead healthy lives makes our communities stronger and improves the quality of life for our residents. I will always advocate for the resources our children, mothers, and families need through my role in the Senate Appropriations Committee, and I look forward to the positive impact this funding will have in our state.”
“West Virginia mothers and families rely on affordable, quality healthcare to raise healthy children. This HHS funding is great news for our state, especially as we continue to battle the COVID-19 pandemic, and will invest over $1.3 million to support maternal and child health services across West Virginia. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocate for funding to support mothers, families and children in the Mountain State,” Senator Manchin said.
