WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $1,368,673 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to the Raleigh County Community Action Association for Head Start projects.
“I’ve seen firsthand the impact Head Start makes in our communities and the lives of our children,” Senator Capito said. “That is why I continue to advocate on their behalf and for the support they need to maintain operations. Prioritizing the education of our youth in West Virginia is an essential component to our future, and something I will always prioritize through my role on the Senate Appropriations Committee.”
“Investing in our children’s education at a young age provides the building blocks for success. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee and longtime Head Start advocate, I am proud to fight for robust funding for Head Start. Every West Virginian deserves access to a quality education regardless of their background, and I am pleased the Raleigh County Community Action Association will be able to give West Virginia children the quality education they deserve,” Senator Manchin said.
