CHARLESTON, W.Va. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $1,400,530 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) as part of the Hospital Preparedness Program. This program supports West Virginia’s hospitals and works to improve patient outcomes during disasters and emergencies.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has underscored just how important our medical institutions and professionals are to protecting our communities, Senator Capito said. “Our health care professionals work tirelessly and programs like this help provide valuable support to allow them to do their jobs effectively. I could not be more proud of the courage of our medical professionals in West Virginia and their dedication to keeping our communities safe.”
“The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the need for West Virginia’s hospitals and healthcare workers to be prepared for any emergency that tests our state. I am pleased HHS is investing in the Hospital Preparedness Program in West Virginia to support our hospitals and healthcare workers as we continue to battle the COVID-19 pandemic and ensure we are prepared for future crises. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocate for funding to support West Virginia’s hospitals and healthcare professionals,” said Senator Manchin.
