WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $1,561,394 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) to support maternal and child health services across West Virginia.
“The mothers and children of our state deserve access to the services and resources they need to lead healthy lives,” Senator Capito said. “Grants like these are essential and will provide much-needed support for maternal and child health services in West Virginia. I will always advocate for the resources our children, mothers, and families need through my role in the Senate Appropriations Committee, and I look forward to the positive impact this funding will have in the Mountain State.”
“Providing West Virginia mothers, children and families with healthcare services is essential to raising healthy children. Access to quality, affordable healthcare is vital for our mothers and children, especially as we continue to combat the COVID-19 pandemic,” Senator Manchin said. “I am pleased HHS is investing in maternal and child health services across the Mountain State. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocate for funding to support West Virginia mothers and children.”
