WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) today announced $1.6 million in funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for revitalization efforts in West Virginia. This funding will be used to help local governments redevelop vacant and unused properties, transforming communities and local economies.

“Strengthening our communities and creating a jobs-friendly environment in West Virginia are top priorities, and these grants will help move us closer to meeting both of those goals,” Senator Capito said. “Investing in projects such as these not only improves the quality of life for West Virginians by cleaning up abandoned sites, but they can also lead to job opportunities. I am glad to see this funding headed to communities that need it most and look forward to the revitalization to come.”

“Since, the founding of our state, West Virginians have always been hardworking and refused to accept the state quo. Today, as we work to strengthen and diversify West Virginia’s economy, we must make sure that our private and public sectors are working together,” Senator Manchin said. “This funding will help our state revitalize properties and boost our economy to foster sustainable growth and entrepreneurship across West Virginia.”
