CHARLESTON, W.VA. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), both members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that $200,000 has been awarded to the Williamson Health and Wellness Center by the Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Rural Health Care Services Outreach Grant Program.
“Improving health care for West Virginians begins at the local level,” Senator Capito said. “Last year, I visited Williamson Health and Wellness Center in Mingo County and learned how they are using commonsense approaches to better the health and well-being of those living in rural West Virginia. This funding will help them continue their important work. I look forward to seeing their progress and will continue to fight for resources that enhance health care for West Virginians.”
“Making sure that West Virginians in rural communities have good access to adequate health care is important to sustaining healthy communities across our state,” Senator Manchin said. “I’m pleased to see this support head to Williamson to ensure West Virginians in Mingo County will continue to have access to primary and preventive care that is so important to their overall health and wellness.”
Williamson Health & Wellness Center CEO Dr. C. Donovan “Dino” Beckett, is “excited for the opportunity to expand Williamson Health & Wellness Center’s patient centered care model.”
“This grant will allow us to fully integrate chronic care coordination through the clinic to continue to improve the quality of care and positive health outcomes of patients in Southern West Virginia,” Dr. Beckett said. “This funding approval validates Williamson Health & Wellness Center’s pioneering model of chronic care management and community health and well-being.”
