WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, announced $2,337,373 in funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Administration for Children and Families (ACF) to support Head Start services at the Fayette County Child Development Center.

“A good education is integral to future success, which is why it is important that we work to support programs that spur learning at a young age,” Senator Capito said. “This funding will help give children in Fayette County access to early childhood education programs, providing opportunity as they learn and grow. As a member of the Appropriations Committee, I am thrilled to see this funding come to southern West Virginia, and I will continue to advocate for resources that help educate our state’s children.”

“Head Start Programs provide the resources for communities to give their students an early childhood education that will support them in the classroom for years to come,” Senator Manchin said. “These programs serve a vital role in West Virginia and I will continue to advocate for Head Start funding so that West Virginia’s children and families always have access to the education they deserve.”
