WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), both members of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $239,937.84 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to support ten West Virginia healthcare providers. This funding from the Provider Relief Fund (PRF) was included in the CARES Act and other bipartisan COVID-19 pandemic relief packages.
“From our hospitals, to our local health centers and family clinics, the COVID-19 pandemic impacted operations and health services across our state. Our medical professionals boldly rose to the challenge, and we cannot thank them enough for their quick action on behalf of their fellow West Virginians. It’s great to see this bipartisan support heading to our communities,” Senator Capito said.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the need for West Virginia’s hospital and healthcare workers to be prepared for any emergency that tests our state. Our healthcare providers have gone above and beyond to care for their fellow West Virginias throughout the pandemic, and I’m pleased our healthcare providers are receiving support through the Provider Relief Fund to continue their critical work,” Senator Manchin said. “As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue advocating for funding to support our healthcare professionals as they care for our fellow West Virginians across the Mountain State.”
