WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Appropriations Committee, today announced $2,738,731 for the Central West Virginia Community Action Association from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Head Start. Funding will support Head Start programs in Harrison and Lewis counties.

“A solid education opens the door to endless possibilities,” Senator Capito said. “If our children receive a strong education, they will have the opportunity to enjoy success throughout life. I will continue to use my voice as a member of the Appropriations Committee to fight for resources for West Virginia’s children.”

“Providing a strong early education system is in the best interest of this community, of this state, and of this country,” Senator Manchin said. “Any opportunity we have to better position students to succeed in the classroom must be utilized. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocate for Head Start funding so that West Virginia’s children and families always have access to early childhood education.”
