WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Appropriations Committee, today announced $2.9 million for the Cowen Public Service District through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Office of Rural Development. Funding will go toward extending wastewater service to approximately 160 customers in Upperglade, West Virginia.
“West Virginians depend on water and wastewater infrastructure every day to live healthy lives and provide for the well-being of their families, and federal investments like this grant help ensure these basic utility services are available and reliable,” Senator Capito said. “Through my role on the Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocate for resources to improve and expand West Virginia’s infrastructure.”
“Inadequate sewer systems threaten public health and quality of life for rural communities,” Senator Manchin said. “I am thrilled that this funding will address these severely challenged systems and invest in the infrastructure that West Virginians deserve. As a member of the Senate Appropriation Committee, I will continue working to secure grants for similar projects in the future.”
