WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $5,066,485 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) Public Health and Emergency Preparedness program.
“Preparing our public health departments for a range of health threats is essential to the wellbeing of West Virginians. We rely on our health departments for so many services, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our healthcare workers have stepped up to the front lines in our response and help to administer crucial testing efforts that have contributed to containing the spread of COVID-19. Providing funding for preparedness activities will better equip our departments for both current and future challenges and help keep both professionals and patients safe. I will continue to listen to the needs of those in our local health departments and advocate for the resources they need to keep West Virginians safe,” said Senator Capito.
