CHARLESTON, W.Va. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $6,500,000 in Rural Development investment loans from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). This funding will be used to purchase a facility for the Boys and Girls Club in Berkeley Springs, as well as renovate and expand the Pocahontas Memorial Hospital in Marlinton.
“Rural Development investments from USDA help get projects off the ground in West Virginia and improve the lives of our residents,” Senator Capito said. “The additional support for the Boys and Girls club in the Eastern Panhandle provides childcare services our families rely on, while the expansion of the Pocahontas Memorial Hospital will lead to increased access to vital health services for the entire county. Investments like these will benefit thousands of people across our state, helping to better connect our communities in West Virginia with essential resources. I look forward to seeing the benefits of these investments and will continue to use my role on the Senate Appropriations Committee to help identify additional areas in need of assistance.”
“Investing in West Virginia’s rural communities is essential to growing our state’s economy and workforce, as well as enriching the lives of West Virginians. I am pleased USDA is investing in Morgan and Pocahontas counties to support childcare services and to renovate and expand Pocahontas Memorial Hospital. I look forward to seeing the benefits from these investments, and I will continue to advocate for funding and resources to support West Virginia’s rural communities,” Senator Manchin said.
