CHARLESTON, W.Va. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $770,864 from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to the West Virginia Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management and the Public Service Commission of West Virginia. This funding will support state pipeline safety programs and hazardous materials preparedness programs across West Virginia.
“It’s important that West Virginia has the resources necessary to support energy production, while also making sure the natural beauty of our state is protected. I’m glad to see DOT stepping up and delivering this funding through safety and preparedness grants,” Senator Capito said. “I will continue to advocate on behalf of the support West Virginia needs to keep our workers safe.”
“Keeping West Virginia workers safe and our wild and wonderful outdoors clean from hazardous materials is essential. This DOT funding will support pipeline safety programs for natural gas, hazardous liquids and other materials and emergency preparedness across the Mountain State. I will always fight to protect our West Virginia workers and advocate for funding to increase safety protocol and preparedness,” Senator Manchin said.
