CHARLESTON, W.Va. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $90,088 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to support the West Virginia Primary Care Association in providing training and technical assistance to community health centers across West Virginia. This funding will strengthen health center operations and capacity to ensure access to comprehensive primary care services to West Virginians during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“As West Virginia continues to gradually reopen, it is essential that our community health centers are prepared and equipped to serve our citizens,” said Senator Capito. “The West Virginia Primary Care Association does a fantastic job in preparing these health centers, especially in more rural areas of our state. Relaying resources from the federal level is a key aspect in our response, and helps keep communities in West Virginia safe.”
“Our healthcare providers have been on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic, working tirelessly to care for their fellow West Virginians,” Senator Manchin said. “This funding will help the West Virginia Primary Care Association provide training and support to health centers as they respond to the global health crisis. I will continue to fight for West Virginia’s healthcare providers to get the support they need to provide quality care to every West Virginian who needs it.”
