CHARLESTON, W.Va. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $95,000 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to the Mountain State Parents Children and Adolescent Network to support children struggling with mental health and substance use disorder in West Virginia.
“This past year has highlighted both the mental health and substance abuse challenges Americans of all ages continue to face,” Senator Capito said. “Our children and young adults are especially susceptible, and it’s important we get through to them about these issues at an early age, which is what this funding intends to do. I am looking forward to seeing the impact these grants will have on our communities, and I will continue to fight for resources that benefit the health and well-being of West Virginians.”
“Every child deserves to be loved and cared for. Children struggling with their mental health are no different. The Mountain State Parents Children and Adolescent Network supports children and their families to ensure children are cared for with love and understanding. I am pleased by this investment in West Virginia’s children, which will help the Network continue their efforts to address mental health and substance use disorder across the state. The battle against the drug epidemic is far from over, and these programs are essential to ensuring our children have access to the care they need,” Senator Manchin said.
