WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $9.8 million for West Virginia communities from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Office of Rural Development. Funding will go toward water and wastewater projects in the cities of Welch and New Cumberland, as well as communities in Mercer County.
“During my time in Congress, I have been a strong advocate for modern infrastructure for West Virginians," Senator Capito said. “This funding will support improvements to water and wastewater services that are critical to the health and well-being of West Virginia families. As a member of the Appropriations Committee, I am pleased to see this funding come to our state, and I will continue to fight for resources to improve West Virginia’s infrastructure.”
“I’m excited to see this funding head to West Virginia to support critical water infrastructure projects in Welch, New Cumberland and Bluewell. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue advocating for these much needed resources,” Senator Manchin said.
