WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Appropriations Committee, today announced $370,000 for West Virginia through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Funding will support the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources’ efforts to improve oral health outcomes.
“Physicians and other health experts stress the importance of maintaining oral health to overall well-being,” Senator Capito said. “Programs that promote best practices and reduce disparities in oral health will help prevent chronic diseases and strengthen the health of West Virginia communities. As a member of the Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocate for resources that improve the lives of West Virginians.”
“This grant will help promote oral health in the Mountain State,” Senator Manchin said. “West Virginians need and deserve resources that support their well-being, and I am pleased that this funding will go toward doing just that. As a member of the Appropriations Committee, I will work to secure similar grants in the future.”
