CHARLESTON, W.Va. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $2,328,783 from U.S. Department of Education (ED) to support TRIO’s Support Services Program at several West Virginia institutions. This funding is made available through the department’s competitive Student Support Services Program.
“Our students across West Virginia have been steadfast throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and adapted well to all the challenges that have been created. It’s great to see so many institutions in West Virginia benefiting from such a competitive program. These grants will provide support services that assist students with basic college requirements. Additionally, this funding will serve to motivate students toward the successful completion of their education and help provide the resources they need to reach their full potential. An investment into our students in West Virginia is an investment into the future of our state,” said Senator Capito.
“Our higher education institutions across the Mountain State provide quality education right here at home. The TRIO Support Services Program provides students with help during their academic careers to ensure they successfully complete their education. As a strong supporter of the TRIO program, I will continue to advocate for this type of funding that helps our students thrive at our colleges and universities,” said Senator Manchin.
