WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Appropriations Committee, today announced $36,104 for the Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) Health Education and Research Institute through the Health Resources and Services Administration. Funding will support traineeships for nurses to become nurse anesthetists.
“Nurses are essential to providing quality health care in all areas of our state,” Senator Capito said. “These men and women are on the front lines in ensuring West Virginians remain healthy, and this funding will support the specialized training they need to continue their important work.”
“As the healthcare industry is one sixth of our economy, there are a lot of job opportunities in this sector. However, these jobs often go unfilled because there is a gap between what the job requires and the skills applicants have. This is why I have always supported traineeship programs like this one because they help people get skills quickly so they can enter the workforce and bring more pay home for their families,” said Senator Manchin. “I am glad HHS has decided to invest in West Virginia’s nursing industry and I will work hard to bring more opportunities like this to all of West Virginia’s industries.”
