WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $827,926 through the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Airport Improvement Program. Funding will support infrastructure improvements and other efforts that will enhance safety and increase the longevity of several airports in West Virginia.

“Access to safe, reliable air travel is critical for economic development and the well-being of West Virginians,” Senator Capito said. “These funds will help ensure several airports in our state are able to continue to serve West Virginia communities well into the future. As a member of the Appropriations Committee, I will continue working to deliver resources like these that improve critical transportation infrastructure for West Virginians.”

“Airports make rural communities accessible to the rest of the country, and therefore make a thriving economy accessible to rural communities,” Senator Manchin said. “As a pilot myself, I understand how critical updated infrastructure and equipment is to an airport’s success. I am pleased West Virginian airports will benefit from this funding as they continue to serve the citizens of our great state.”
