WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Appropriations Committee, today announced two grants totaling $1,278,441 from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for health information systems and research.
“Whether providing technical support for health departments or leading the front line of cancer research, West Virginia has a vested interest in the health and well-being of everyone who calls our state home,” Senator Capito said. “I’m proud HHS recognizes our state’s hard work in these areas, and these grants will provide invaluable support to both of these important causes.”
“Innovation in science can lead to medical breakthroughs that can save and improve lives,” Senator Manchin said. “I am pleased that these West Virginian institutions are being recognized with this federal funding so they can continue innovating and making new discoveries. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will work to secure similar funding in the future.”
