WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $3,226,620 from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA). Funding will be used to update transportation infrastructure and hazardous materials emergency preparedness.
"These investments will improve transportation infrastructure around the state and allow the West Virginia Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management to improve and carry out their emergency response plans," Senator Capito said. "Safety is always our first priority, both on and off the roads, and these grants help improve our state’s overall preparedness.
“I am glad to see these efforts to improve and develop our transportation infrastructure and emergency preparedness across West Virginia are being supported by the DOT and FAA through this funding. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to fight for our transportation industry in order to help show off all that West Virginia has to offer,” Senator Manchin said.
