WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $3,881,164 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for Head Start programs throughout Central West Virginia and Greenbrier County.
“Head Start programs help ensure young West Virginians have a strong foundation to begin grade school. Our students today are the future of our state, and they deserve every available resource to ensure their success. I’m proud to see this funding come to our state and will continue to advocate for educational programs like Head Start,” Senator Capito said.
“I firmly believe that every child in West Virginia deserves access to a quality education no matter their background or location. That’s why I am proud to fight for Head Start funding for West Virginia. Head Start programs help young West Virginians get the most out of their education and helps prepare them to enter the workforce with the skills and knowledge they need. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to fight for West Virginia Head Start programs to ensure every West Virginia receives a head start,” Senator Manchin said.
