WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $7,324,585 for communities across West Virginia to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the coronavirus (COVID-19). This funding is made available through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, which received additional funding in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act).
“We have seen just how drastic the impact COVID-19 can have within our homes, making it all the more important that we provide this targeted relief where West Virginians need it most,” Senator Capito said. “This funding through HUD and their CDBG program will help provide additional support to our public housing sector and relief directly into West Virginia. I will continue to fight for the resources we need back home keep our resident’s safe and prepare our state for future challenges associated with COVID-19.”
