WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) today announced a total of $799,071 in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation for airports in Marshall, Greenbrier, and Upshur counties. The grants will be used to increase safety and efficiency of airport terminal and runway operations.
“West Virginia’s airports – especially ones located in rural areas – play a key role in connecting our communities and strengthening our economy,” Senator Capito said. “As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I was glad to do my part in making sure airports in these counties receive the funding necessary to continue providing essential service to travelers.”
“I’m pleased to see this funding head to Marshall, Greenbrier and Upshur County Airports,” Senator Manchin said. “As a pilot myself, I understand how crucial it is for us to maintain our airport infrastructure. Airports serve an important role in rural communities and I am glad these airports will be able to make necessary improvements to continue that important work.”
