WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Ranking Member of the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee, and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), both members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (WVDEP) will receive $500,000 from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The funding will be used specifically to support the state’s air pollution control programs.
“This funding will help WVDEP improve air quality in our state, which will contribute to better environmental and public health,” Ranking Member Capito said. “This type of federal grant assistance is critical to implementing WVDEP’s goals and keeping our air clean.”
“Every West Virginian deserves fresh air to breathe and clean water to drink, no matter where they live in our great state. This funding from EPA will help address air pollution concerns in our communities to keep our fellow West Virginians safe. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to fight for funding that supports these efforts,” Senator Manchin said.
