CHARLESTON, W.Va. — U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Ranking Member of the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee, and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), both members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) will receive $280,000 through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s State Public Water System Supervision program.
“This funding will help DHHR protect public health by providing technical assistance, conducting sanitary surveys, and ensuring drinking water regulations are being adhered to,” Ranking Member Capito said. “Keeping our state’s drinking water sources safe and clean remains one of my top priorities, and I appreciate EPA’s support to protect public health.”
“To ensure all West Virginians have access to clean water to drink and fresh air to breathe, we must continually update and improve our water infrastructure throughout the state. I am pleased EPA is investing in the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources to implement a State Public Water System Supervision program to improve the quality and safety of our water resources, and I look forward to seeing the positive impacts of this program. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocate for resources to upgrade and improve our water infrastructure across the Mountain State,” Senator Manchin said.
