CHARLESTON, W.Va. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), both members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $1,180,928 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to West Virginia University (WVU) and Marshall University.
“I’m thrilled to see support heading to WVU and Marshall to help strengthen research initiatives and bolster primary care training,” Senator Capito said. “The research and medical training happening at our higher education institutions in West Virginia is second to none, and I will continue to advocate for the resources they need to operate at their full potential and set our students on a path to success.”
“All West Virginians deserve to access to quality, affordable healthcare, no matter where they live,” Senator Manchin said. “I’m pleased HHS is investing in WVU and Marshall University to strengthen medical research initiatives and expand physician assistant services in our rural communities. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue advocating for funding to support healthcare services and research across the Mountain State.”
