WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) was appointed to serve on a conference committee that will reconcile several Senate and House appropriations bills.
The conference committee, composed of 19 senators and 13 representatives, will put together a final appropriations bill funding military construction, veterans affairs, infrastructure development and housing and urban development programs, along with funding to fight the Zika virus. Senator Capito is the only freshman Senator to be appointed as a conferee.
“As a member of the Appropriations Committee, I helped craft appropriations bills that benefit our veterans, infrastructure and efforts to address the Zika virus. I am grateful for the opportunity to shape the final outcome of these bills with my Senate and House colleagues, and will use this platform to bring West Virginia’s voice to the negotiating table,” said Senator Capito.
