WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) released the following statement regarding the announcement of a new provider for the cellular tower in Paw Paw, West Virginia after a prolonged search. Senator Capito initiated the search for a carrier earlier this year.

During her time in Congress, Senator Capito has been a strong advocate for improving connectivity and broadband access in West Virginia and recently released her Capito Connect plan.

“Cell phone and internet access is critical to live, work and compete in today’s economy and marketplace. Small communities across West Virginia lack this fundamental infrastructure and lack access to vital opportunities as a result. This announcement is great news for jobs and growth in the Eastern Panhandle, and I was happy to help make it a reality,” said Senator Capito. “This tower will provide service to underserved and disconnected communities in Morgan and surrounding counties, boosting business development and enhancing communications in those communities.”

The Capito Connect Plan aims to bring affordable, high speed internet access to every home, business and classroom in West Virginia. The plan includes three steps for tackling the broadband challenge in West Virginia: understanding the benefits of a connected West Virginia; fostering collaboration between government and the private sector; and promoting economic growth through innovation.
