WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today joined President Donald J. Trump at the White House to discuss funding priorities for FY2019 and the progress being made in returning regular order to the appropriation process. After the meeting, Senator Capito issued the following statement:
“I always welcome the opportunity to speak with President Trump directly about our shared funding priorities, and today’s discussion was another positive and productive one. As a leader on the Appropriations Committee, I am proud of the work we have done this year to put forward and advance bills that will provide critical resources to help grow our economy, keep Americans safe, build a wall system, and improve the lives of West Virginians and others across the country. I will continue working to move this legislation forward and ensure Congress delivers responsible and effective government funding bills that will help support the critical priorities I discussed with the president today.”
Senator Capito also joined President Trump at the White House last week to discuss national security funding included in the bill she authored as chair of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee. Yesterday, the Senate passed the first government funding bill of FY2019.
