WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) issued the following statement regarding today’s Supreme Court decision in King v. Burwell:
“Today’s ruling is a disappointment to those Americans who have been harmed by Obamacare. The ruling will not change the fact that this legislation has upended our health care system, increasing premiums and limiting choice for patients looking for a doctor or health care plan.
“Thousands of West Virginians have lost or had to change coverage because of this costly and complicated law. For many Americans, the exchanges set up under Obamacare became their only health insurance option, and because of increasing costs for alternative health insurance, many are now unable to afford health insurance without subsidies.
“I remain committed to reforming the health care system, improving access and making health care truly affordable. The American people deserve a health care system that works for them, and Obamacare is not it.”
