Capito Votes to Confirm Pompeo as Secretary of State

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) today issued the below statement after voting to confirm Mike Pompeo as U.S. Secretary of State. Pompeo was confirmed by a vote of 57 to 42.
 
“Mike’s impressive list of experiences and accomplishments make him more than qualified to serve as our next Secretary of State. Having served alongside him in the House, I know how committed Mike is to this nation and to restoring American leadership around the world. While it’s unfortunate many of my Democrat colleagues made this confirmation such a partisan process, I’m glad that commonsense prevailed. Now, more than ever, we need a strong and qualified Secretary of State to be a leader on the global stage, and I know Mike is up for the job.”
