WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) today issued the following statement after voting to confirm Christopher Wray as director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Wray was confirmed by a vote of 92-5.
“When I met with Mr. Wray last month, it was clear that he would be a strong and effective FBI director. His experience and commitment to justice make him well-qualified to fill this important role, and I have no doubt his character and resolve will help him become a strong leader at the bureau. I hope Mr. Wray will soon make a trip to the Criminal Justice Information Services Division in Fairmont to see for himself how the dedicated professionals there are working to keep West Virginia and the nation safe and secure.”
Senator Capito met with Wray in July to discuss his priorities for the bureau. More information on their meeting is available here.
