WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), chair of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, this week appeared on Fox Business’ “Cavuto: Coast to Coast” and CNBC’s “Squawk Box” to discuss the partial government shutdown and the importance of providing resources to strengthen border security.
“I’m the appropriator for the Homeland Security subcommittee,” said Senator Capito on Fox Business. “I got $1.6 billion in a bipartisan way in June. We have commitments from both sides of the aisle. Certainly where I’m from in West Virginia, people are very strong in terms of saying, ‘Hold strong. We need to secure the border. It is a crisis.’ That’s the position I’m going to take.

“Governing by shutdown is a no-win proposition,” Senator Capito said on CNBC. “It’s a no-win for the American people. Opening the government is important to me. But I’m solidly behind the President on the need for border security. I’ve been to the border, I’ve seen it, and I’ve talked with a lot of the border agents.”
