WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), a member of the Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee, today released the following statement after the committee voted to advance Utilizing Significant Emissions with Innovative Technologies (USE IT) Act, bipartisan legislation Senator Capito introduced to incentivize carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS) and encourage innovation in the use of energy resources:
“As we continue to position our country as a global energy leader, it’s critical that we deliver new and innovative legislative solutions that will build a stronger energy future while also benefiting our environment and our economy. The USE IT Act is exactly that kind of solution. This isn’t an unrealistic pie-in-the-sky proposal. It’s a pragmatic, commonsense bill that has attracted broad bipartisan support, and I’m hopeful that it will continue to do so as it’s considered by the full Senate.”
